Method of Engagement
Independent Contracted Nannies (Self Employed)
A nanny engages in work for a client on a regular or casual basis. This work can be ceased or modified by the nanny or the client at any time. The client isn’t required to guarantee permanent work for the nanny or a set amount of hours, and the nanny isn’t required to guarantee permanent availability.
Client accountabilities for hiring an independently contracted nanny
There are various accountabilities, you, the client, are accountable for if you hire an independently contracted nanny.
It is the client’s responsibility to pay the nanny superannuation, if the said domestic employee, works over 30 hours a week. Visit www.ato.com.au for more information.
It is the client’s responsibility to take out WorkCover insurance when they expect to pay their nanny over $7,500 per annum.
Geelong Nannies covers nannies under their insurance policy, and nannies pay Geelong Nannies a yearly insurance fee.
The nanny provides the client with an invoice at the end of the week for her hours worked, and this payment goes from the client directly into her/his bank account.
The nanny will add a charge for travel, if the work requires the children to be transported in the nanny’s own car.
Geelong Nannies takes child safety very seriously. We are pro-child safety for every single child. We incorporate child safety into our organisation by our strict recruitment guidelines, yearly police checks for each nanny and babysitter, getting nannies to register their WWCC through our organisation and educating our team members about child safety when they come on board. Each nanny signs a child safe agreement after reading our child safe policy and code of conduct.
